PCT day 37, more cold wet rainy weather.

Start mile 465.6, end 478.1.  12.5 total miles.  Elevation start 3363, end 3411.  2248 total gain, 2195 elevation drop, average grade 347 feet per mile.  Rain, fog, high winds, high 53, low 46.

Again, this will be abbreviated. WordPress “glitched” again, losing my entire post after I tried to publish it.

This day would be the most amazing day so far. I ascended up into the clouds again right off the bat, into scenery that more resembles the Pacific Northwest rainforests than the Pacific Crest Trail. It was another cold windy day with a foggy light rain.

On the backside of this ridge was another green foggy forest filled with a large number of birds taking refuge from the weather. There was no wind on the north side of the ridge because it was shielded from the wind. The birds seemed to ignore the fact that I was there, singing away. There were many different kinds of birds singing. The woods again smelled wonderful, smelling like Manzanita bloom, another lilac type of bush in bloom, the thick wet grass, and a slight mildewing of the forest floor has made this 5 mile stretch my favorite stretch of the PCT so far!

Isn’t this incredible

I eventually descended into a place called Casa De Luna, a place that hosts hikers, owned by the Anderson’s. I can camp here and they cook dinner and breakfast for hikers. They’re fantastic people. She had “Falls” and I help her prepare dinner, which was taco salad. I think our taco salad was the best to ever come out of that house!!! It’s also a rule that you have to wear a Hawaiian shirt when at their house!

Mrs. Anderson grabbed my butt cheek to get me to smile.
